Steamtown National Historic Site

Steamtown is to the National Park Service what the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania in Strasburg is to Pennsylvania.  Although Steamtown's collection of rolling stock is not as large as RRMPA, it is still one of the more impressive collections on the East Coast. Steamtown does run excursions using real steam trains.

Railroaders Memorial Museum

The Railroaders Memorial Museum does not celebrate railroads, it celebraters the railroaders who built and operated the iron horse in America.  This museum is housed in an old Pennsylvania Railroad workshop.

Fort Ligonier

Fort Ligonier is a reconstruction of a extensive wooden stockade fort that existed in frontier Pennsylvania during the French and Indian War.  In addition to the fort, there is also an excellent museum with artifacts, artwork, and a large collection of reproduction cannon.

Fallingwater

Fallingwater is perhaps the best known private residence in the United States and one of the most famous designs of noted architect Frank Lloyd Wright.  Currently owned and operated by the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy, Fallingwater is a national treasure.

Heinz History Center

Named for the late Senator John Heinz, this museum focuses on regional Western Pennsylvania and Pittsburgh history.  Housed within it is the Western Pennsylvania Sports Museum, a must for any Steelers or Penguins fan.

Old Economy Village is a late 19th century celebate communal society that was founded by George Herman Rapp.  Economy has some things in common with the Ephrata Cloister!
